Four Seasons at Ten Trinity Square, London

THE BACKGROUND: The highly anticipated Four Seasons at Ten Trinity Square opened earlier this year in the grade II-listed former headquarters of the Port of London Authority, opened in 1922. The 100-room hotel is adjacent to the Tower of London and Tower Hill Underground station.

THE CHECK-IN: I downloaded the Four Seasons app a couple of days before my visit and used it to check-in, but this didn’t seem to expedite the process on arrival at the hotel. I’d earlier received a push notification informing me my room was ready. The small reception area and large adjacent Rotunda bar and lounge area are elegant and airy.

THE ROOM: I stayed in a spacious and well-equipped Executive room with stylish yet relatively subdued decor and furnishings. There was ample room for a sofabed, coffee table and desk, while wardrobes were set either side of the entrance to a lavish marble bathroom. This had a huge bath, walk-in shower and intricate green and gold mosaic tiling. Room features also included a wall-mounted TV, coffee machine, minibar, safe, tablet (for various room and hotel-related functions), electric blind and curtains –and enough lighting options to make it a challenge achieving complete darkness.

KEY FACILITIES: There are two highly-rated, attractive restaurants: La Dame de Pic for French cuisine and Mei Ume for Asian. There’s also an appealing pool, spa and surprisingly large gym. The app also proved useful. While I was out that evening I used it to request an iron and ironing board.
