Les Balcons de Bellevarde, Val d’Isere, France

by Julie Baxter | December 2017

"A modern, bright, warm and well-located property in the quieter end of Val d’Isere with a well-equipped kitchen, good bathroom and comfy beds. A cosy base, with great views, it is well set up to make a wintersports break easy and enjoyable"

THE BACKGROUND: This modern Pierre & Vacances apartment block offers a range of self-catering apartments and is well geared up to the needs of the wintersports market.

THE LOCATION: Located in the quieter Daille end of Val d’Isere, at the entrance to the resort, the property is well connected to the centre of the town with a free regular bus service stopping immediately outside. There are some restaurants and a few shops close by and it is just a short walk to the foot of the slopes and the Funival from where all the resort’s extensive slopes can be accessed.

THE ROOM: My one-bedroom apartment had been recently renovated and was bright and airy with a contemporary style combined with a few alpine touches. The open plan living space included a sofa bed and dining table connected to a kitchen area which was very well set up with a good range of equipment for self-catering. Large windows looked out directly to the mountains. The bathroom was new and shiny and while it wasn’t huge, it functioned well and had a great shower.

KEY FACILITIES: The property included a large boot and ski storage area on the ground floor. Linen, towels, cleaning kit and a basic wifi connection are all included in the price. There was no set change-over day or stay duration which added flexibility.

RESTAURANTS/BARS:The property has a small lounge/meeting area but as it is designed for self-catering it has no restaurant. There are a few nearby but the more lively part of town is an easy five minute bus ride away from the property.

RATES: Currently priced from £831 (down from £1072 saving 22%) for a seven-night self-catered stay in a one-bedroom apartment that sleeps up to five people.
