Canada's virtual expo will 'fast track' agents

by Steve Hartridge

Destination Canada and its key industry partners, including airlines, provinces and territories, trains, Parks Canada and Indigenous Tourism, will join forces next month to host a special vritual 'fast track' event for agents.

Called Canada Specialist Virtual Xpo, the event will also see the launch of the tourism board's refreshed Canada Specialist Program (CSP).

Running on November 23, from 14.00 to 19.00, the interactive format will offer agents the chance to win some great prizes, along with the chance to take and post an event selfie.

"For agents with clients who have Canada on their dream or bucket list, and who want to impress them with their breadth of Canada knowledge, Canada Specialist Virtual Xpo will be a great way to ensure they are up to speed on all things Canada and help them clinch that sale," said Adam Hanmer, Travel Trade Manager, Destination Canada UK.

He added: "We are so excited to be talking all things Canada and are looking forward to welcoming visitors back to our shores again.

"We hope that travel agents will take this opportunity to refresh or update their knowledge if they know Canada well, or feel inspired to sign up and learn more if they don’t."

The flexible hours of the "on demand" event is designed to allow agents to fit it in around their working schedule. They can drop in at any point over the five hours.

The site will then stay live for 30 days and be available to agents who want to go back for a content refresh or to learn more.

"We’ve worked hard to bring the industry to Canada Specialist Virtual Xpo to showcase the best of Canada and hope that travel agents will enjoy and learn from it," added Hammer.

"Agents who join us on the day will be able to find answers to all their burning questions to help clinch that sale.

"These might include 'How long does it take to go across Canada by train? What is the difference between the Canadian Rockies and the US Rockies? Why should my clients visit Atlantic Canada? What should they be aware of if hiring a motor home in Canada? We'll have these and many more questions covered."

Agents can sign up via this link ( from October 22.
