New ‘buddy’ initiative from Global Travel Group

The Global Travel Group announced plans to launch its new ‘Global Buddies’ mentoring scheme at the annual Global Travel Conference held in Orlando this week.

The new scheme will give new travel agency owners the opportunity to ‘buddy up’ with more established retailers who can offer tips, advice and support on how to run a successful operation.

Cherie Richards, Commercial Director of The Global Travel Group said: "Our members see themselves as part of a family and are keen to help each other, whether that’s guiding on what brochures to stock, which window displays work or tips on how to get started.”

Initially members of Global’s executive team will each be assigned their own new member ‘buddy’ to help during their first year of membership.

While the scheme is exclusively for members, the consortium is keen to get big-name suppliers involved in group mentoring sessions to travel around the country next year.

Global will also be launching a ‘Make Memories’ peaks campaign for January 2019 which will include social media offers and promotional marketing material as well as rolling out a new iBos technology system in time for the campaign.

The independent travel agency consortium celebrated its 25th year by inviting members and suppliers to network and attend motivational speaker sessions at the conferencein Orlando, with the likes of Erin Brockovich and Katy Hill on stage to inspire agents to strive for success in 2019.

The conference also saw the group unveil a new branding in celebration of the 25 year milestone. The logo and new brand is designed to ‘future-proof’ the company and was described as a ‘unified, modern brand which presents the business to the world as one that is fresh and forward thinking’.

Cherie added: "We want to be the consortium of choice and continue to grow the business under our values of professionalism, unity and family.”
