Wendy Wu Tours adds Scottish getaway
by Jessica Pook
Wendy Wu Tours has introduced a Scottish touring experience as part of its new domestic touring programme.
With a maximum group size of 24, the 11-day ‘Spirit of Scotland’ tour will journey from Edinburgh to Inverness, Fort William to the Isle of Skye and the Isle of Mull to Glasgow.
Highlights include a guided tour onboard the Royal Yacht Britannia; an 84-mile round trip on the Jacobite Steam Train, also known as the ‘Hogwarts Express’ from the Harry Potter series, a boat trip to the Isle of Mull and a day on the Isle of Skye, spending time with a local wilderness and conservation expert on a wild walking tour.
The domestic addition follows a recent customer poll, which revealed that whilst international travel was top of the agenda in 2022, more than 72% of customers were ready to book a staycation break in the UK for travel in 2021, as soon as current restrictions are lifted.
The poll revealed that the top UK staycation group touring destinations most in demand for 2021 are the Scottish Highlands, followed by Ireland, Cornwall and North Wales.
“There’s a huge demand for staycations in 2021,” said John Warr, Global Sales Director at Wendy Wu. “Our Scotland tour has just gone on sale and already we’re close to selling out on the first departure.
“Our poll, which spoke to agents and customers, was a clear indicator that demand to get away this year is high, and Scotland is top of the list as the most desirable UK staycation.”
He added: “The new ‘Spirit of Scotland’ tour is a game-changer in the UK staycation touring sector, combing all of Scotland’s ‘greatest hits’ together in the most comprehensive, fully inclusive tour of Scotland, together with a series of unique experiences such as time on the Royal Yacht Britannia as well as the journey on the Jacobite Steam Train.”
The fully inclusive 11-day Spirit of Scotland tour departs October 11 and is priced from £2,490pp.
